If you plan on ushering in the New Year, 2012, dancing under the night sky (and it is clear and visible!), you will spend it with Jupiter and Mars. Perfect! Put a Frank Sinatra or Kaye Ballard record on the stereo (ok I am dating myself  but so what, once over the hill it doesn't matter how far!) and play "Fly Me to the Moon"......
Fly me to the moon
Let me play among the stars
Let me see what spring is like
On Jupiter and Mars
In other words, hold my hand
In other words, baby, kiss, me...

Ahhh, what could be more perfect!
Happy New Year, a New Year filled with whatever your heart desires and of course Science Fiction!!!!

Science Fiction Musings

English: Still from Sci-Fi short film "Th...

Every December I become busy and have little time to pay attention to science fiction books, shows, movies, or science news in general. This year I am taking time off and I am going to catch up on my favorite sci fi blogs, read some science news, read a book, and watch some shows. The only complaint I have about the SYFYLA..com (sci fi channel in Latin America) is that I do not like the ghost hunter type reality shows. I realize that budgets are tight and shows expensive to make so I would prefer re-runs of good science fiction shows instead of ghost hunts, I would not mind one reality show a day but all day every day!!!( I know I am exaggerating but it seems like it!) Really, the quality of the channel has dropped and I hope they can do better next year because I do enjoy sci fi shows and movies.
In the meantime, I found this great link from Bad Astronomy and hope you enjoy it and have a peaceful and safe holiday season.
